The Top Five Ways an Automatic Car Wash Can Damage Your Vehicle and Why You Should Hand Wash Instead

If you’re like most people, you probably don’t have time to wash your car by hand every week. That’s why so many of us rely on automatic car washes to do the job for us. However, what a lot of people don’t know is that automatic car washes can do more harm than good. In this blog post, we will discuss the top five ways an automatic car wash can damage your vehicle and why you should hand wash instead!

Number one on our list is that automatic car washes can scratch your paint. The brushes that are used in these types of washes are not always gentle and can leave behind scratches and swirl marks. This can happen in an automatic wash, including so-called soft-touch washes. The brushes are usually not cleaned often enough and even if they are clean, the pressure applied from the brushes can be too much, which results in microscopic scratches in the clear coat.

Number two, the chemicals that are used in automatic car washes can be harsh on your paint and clear coat. Most auto washes use extremely potent chemicals in their washes. This can leave your car looking clean, but these chemicals can strip away the protective layers on your vehicle, leaving it more susceptible to damage from the elements.

Number three, automatic car washes often use high-pressure hoses to blast away dirt and grime. This high pressure can force water into areas of your vehicle where it doesn’t belong, causing rust and other problems. There are electronics and other moisture-sensitive components that shouldn’t get wet on your vehicle. You run the risk of damaging these components when you use an automatic wash.

Number four, if you have a newer vehicle with LED headlights, you should avoid automatic car washes. The high-pressure water can damage the sealant around these types of headlights, causing them to leak and allowing moisture to get inside. Newer lights have a different type of sealant that isn’t as robust compared to the sealant of old.

Number five, automatic car washes can be hard on your tires. The chemicals and high-pressure water can cause the rubber to deteriorate, which can lead to premature tire wear. Considering the cost of tires today, you may want to avoid this if you value your money.

So there you have it! These are just a few of the ways that automatic car washes can damage your vehicle. If you want to protect your investment, we recommend hand washing your vehicle instead. Thanks for reading!

How to Hand Wash and Wax a Vehicle: The Ultimate Guide

If you want to keep your vehicle looking its best, you need to know how to hand wash and wax it properly. This can be a daunting task if you’ve never done it before, but don’t worry – we’re here to help! In this guide, we will walk you through the steps involved in hand washing and waxing a car. We’ll also provide some tips on how to avoid common mistakes. So read on for all the information you need to get the job done right!

To start, you will need to gather a few supplies. These include a bucket, sponge or wash mitt, soap specifically designed for washing cars, wax, a hose with a spray nozzle, lint-free rags, and a clean towel. You will also need access to running water and somewhere to park your car where it won’t get dirty again immediately after you finish washing it.

Once you have everything you need, the first step is to wet your car down with the hose. Be sure to use a gentle setting on the nozzle so that you don’t damage the paint. Next, add some of the car soap to your bucket and fill it up with water. Submerge your sponge or wash mitt in the soapy water and then start scrubbing the car, starting from the top and working your way down. Be sure to pay special attention to areas that tend to collect dirt, such as the wheels and wheel wells. Travis from Omaha Tub Resurfacing recommends using an old toothbrush to get in the small areas of the wheels and around the tire valve stem. When you’re finished scrubbing, rinse the soap off with the hose. Then dry your car with a clean towel. Once it’s completely dry, it’s time to start waxing.

Waxing is one of those things that initially may seem hard to do, but it’s pretty easy to do and beneficial to your vehicle. Start with a clean lint-free rag. Apply a small amount of wax to your rag and then spread it over a small section of the car. Use circular motions and make sure you cover the entire surface evenly. Once you’ve done a small portion of the car or truck, take a different clean lint-free rag and wipe the wax off after it has completely dried. Do this again using circular motions. Flip your rag over frequently, or refold it so that a new part of the rag is contacting the surface of the vehicle. Continue these steps until you’ve waxed the entire car.

That’s it! You’ve now successfully washed and waxed your car by hand. Following these steps regularly will help to keep your car looking its best for years to come. Thanks for reading! We hope this guide was helpful.

A General Guide to Auto Detailing

We’ve put together this quick read so that you can better understand car detailing on a broad level. It’s divided into 5 sections, each having a specific question that we’ve elaborated on in detail.

What is auto detailing and what services does it include?

Auto detailing is the process of cleaning and polishing the vehicle’s exterior and interior. Services can include vacuuming and shampooing the carpets, cleaning the dust and dirt from the vehicles, waxing the paint and cleaning the windows. Detailing provides a thorough clean that helps to maintain the vehicle’s value and keep it looking its best.

Many detailing services are performed by hand, using brushes, towels, and special cleaners. This ensures that every nook and cranny is cleaned, and that the finish is uniform. Detailing can be performed on both new and used vehicles. It is especially important for those who want to keep their car’s resale value high. Whether you’re getting your car ready to sell or just wanting to keep it looking its best, NYC Auto Detailing is a great option.

What are the benefits of auto detailing for your car or truck?

Detailing can help to extend the life of your paint job by removing dirt, grime, and other contaminants that can damage the paint over time. additionally, it can enhance the look of your vehicle by making it look like new again. It also helps to improve the resale value of your car or truck by keeping it in top condition. Lastly, auto detailing can also protect you and your passengers by removing allergens and other harmful particles from the interior of the vehicle. Whether you’re getting ready to sell your car or just want to keep it looking its best, auto detailing is always a worthwhile investment.

How often should you have your vehicle detailed to keep it looking its best?

In order to keep your vehicle looking its best, you should have it detailed regularly. Depending on how often you drive and how clean you keep your car, you may need to detail it as often as once a week or as seldom as once a month. A professional detailer will clean every area of your car, inside and out, leaving it looking showroom-new.

If you don’t have the time or the budget to have your car detailed frequently, there are some things you can do to maintain its appearance in between appointments. For example, you can wash and wax the exterior regularly, and vacuum and shampoo the interior. By taking good care of your vehicle, you can keep it looking its best for years to come. You can also extend the life of some of your car’s components, like the dashboard, tires and leather seats by keeping them clean and conditioned properly. Poorly conditioned leather and vinyl can crack in the hot sun, and rubber on wheels can deteriorate faster when it’s not conditioned regularly.

What is the cost of auto detailing services?

Auto detailing can vary greatly based on your location, existing condition of the car and detailing services requested. I’ll briefly expand on these three variables and then give you a few prices that we charge at NYC Auto Detailing as an example

Location- The price of detailing partially is based on your geographic location. Your location makes a difference on all prices. Living in a bigger city, you can expect to pay higher prices as prices are higher for all the vendors and suppliers in the area. If you live in a smaller city or village, you can expect to pay less for the same job you would in a larger city. We reached out to a friend in Provo that owns a junk removal company, UVJunk.com, and he confirmed that prices to detail his fleet of trucks is less than detailing a truck here in New York City.

Existing condition of the car – This one is pretty obvious. If your car is relatively clean and well maintained, you can expect to pay the normal rate while an auto detailer cleans up your car and brings it back up to a pristine condition. On the other hand, if you’ve been neglecting your car and its paint job and interior, you’ll have to pay more initially to bring it back up to a “normal” standard. Things like excess pat hair, excess dirt and mud, both on the inside and out, and garbage or junk in the car can increase the cost of the initial detailing.

Detailing services requested – This one isn’t hard to grasp either. There are several levels of detailing, from a simple wash and wax up to a full detail including the engine. These services have completely different prices as the wash and wax only takes an hour or so versus a full detail including the engine taking close to an entire day. If you want a more in-depth cleaning, be prepared to pay more for the service.

Here are a few pricing points from NYC Auto Detailing so you can at least get an idea of what prices you can expect. Remember that these prices are for vehicles in reasonably good condition:

·  Premier hand car wash $55-$75

·  Wash and Wax $105-$125

·  Exterior detail $170-$220

·  Interior detail $170-$220

·  Full package detail $245-$345

How do I find a reputable auto detailing shop in my area that will provide quality service at a fair price?

There are a few things to keep in mind when looking for a reputable auto detailing shop. First, it’s important to read online reviews and speak to friends or family who have used the business before. This will give you a good idea of the quality of service you can expect. Second, it’s important to make sure that the shop offers a fair price for the services you’re interested in. Don’t be afraid to compare prices from different businesses before you make a decision.

Finally, it’s always a good idea to visit the shop in person and speak to the staff before having any work done. This will help you get a feel for the level of customer service you can expect. By keeping these things in mind, you should be able to find a reputable auto detailing shop in your area that will provide quality service at a fair price.

Of course you could skip all of this and come straight to the best in the city, NYC Auto Detailing! We’d be happy to earn your business and show you why we’ve been in business for almost 45 years.
